New NMMT Volvo Routes!
Ah! Looks like there is war going on between BEST and NMMT in Navi Mumbai! NMMT (No:123) which plies to Dindoshi from CBD, spotted one this morning while driving to work. Look for TimeTable & Pics at Airoli bridge at the end of this page.
BEST is running its Shaky Chinese buses from Santacruz to CBD via Bandra Stn, I forgot its number, guess it is AS 505. They also have buses to from Vashi Stn-Ghatkopar depot and to Mulund also.
The problem that I have with BEST Ac buses is the high fare (Rs 48 from Bandra to Vashi Depot! NMMT costs Rs. 30) and of course the shaky bus which doesn’t have flaps on the AC vents!!!
Well, with more and more services… We have more options, but hey!!! We are running out of roads & Infrastructure to accommodate these Big Boys! You gotta check how the BEST takes the turn inside Bandra depots last lane where it picks up passengers from. Also one thing to be noted is that from Bandra we have the BEST & NMMT racing with each other to be the first to arrive, not a good thing at all!
Lets wait and watch how many more buses they push in! I hope they to get into a price we like our poor cellular operators who have dropped it to ultra low levels considering the charges they used to command when they Mobile phones were new in India.

Hey thanks for the info.. NMMC volvo scores over BEST’s low quality king-long buses.. NMMC Volvo has a sexy pickup and excellent suspension & they are providing services at unbelievable priecs.. From Mulund 2 Vashi Depot Best 513 price is 20 & AS-51 is 35 against NMMTs just 20rs.. But NMMC must increase frequency..
Thanks for the comment Akshay! Yea the pickup and suspension of Volvo is sexy indeed! Just observe how the hydraulic suspension elevates and lowers bus when it is stationary at signals etc! You can feel it going up and down with that hissing sound! They beat BEST black and blue in terms of pick up!
Yes they should definitely do something about the frequency. I generally take the bus on Monday mornings from Jui nagar and it arrives there between 8:15 & 8:30. 15 mins gaps are huge in time starved Mumbai, by the time the bus reached Sect 11, Vashi, the bus is full! This Friday I waited for abt 45 mins for the bus at Dindoshi but it never arrived and I came in the BEST AC bus… Which, though in terms of quality and price is a pain in the ass, has better frequency.
I’d rather reach on time than wait for “a” particular bus! I believe not many will disagree with me!
There is a big scop for you to start a AC Bus from AIroli/Koparkhairne to Tardeo (BEST Rout no: 521) vis chembur-sion-dadar TT-Shivaji Park- Worli-Tardeo. BEST Route 521 is always packed and also lot of big Offices are situated on this rout. Please study this rout for a AC Bus. I am a admirer of your AC buses.
